INDIA, Post-Mauryan (Punjab). Taxila (local coinage). Circa 2nd-1st century BC. AE (Bronze, 12 mm, 1.16 g, 7 h), Taxila city state (Pushkalavati). Three-arched hill surmounted by a crescent. Rev. Tree in railing flanked by two adorants; above, hill, taurine, swastika and Indradhvaja. Leu Numismatik Web Auction 13 (2020), 647. Very rare and in exceptional condition for this difficult issue. Patina stripped and with minor deposits, otherwise, good very fine.

The adorants worshipping a sacred tree on the reverse of this issue likely represent religious figures such as the six-headed goddess Shashti and her consort, Karttikeya.
